– मेरा वंश पापियों का नहीं, पुण्यात्माओं का है

पिछली बार मैंने आपको अपने अच्छे और सच्चे पहलुओं से परिचित करवाने का वादा किया था, आज उसी को निभा रहा हूं। शुरुआत करता हूं वहां से, जहां मैंने जन्म लिया… किसी भी व्यक्ति की पहचान वैसे तो उसके व्यक्तित्व से होनी चाहिए लेकिन होती है वंश से, उसके परिवार और कुल से। मेरा कुल राक्षस कहलाता है और सामान्यत: लोग इसे पापियों और दुराचियों का वंश कहते हैं जबकि ऐसा बिल्कुल नहीं है। मेरा कुल या वंश, पापियों का नहीं पुण्यात्माओं का है।

प्रारम्भ में चार ही वंश हुआ करते थे- इक्ष्वाकु वंश, ऋषि वंश, विद्याधर वंश और हरिवंश। समय, घटनाक्रम तथा व्यक्तित्व प्रभाव सहित अन्य कारणों से इन वंशों से कई वंशों का जन्म हुआ और मेरा राक्षस वंश… विद्याधर वंश से उत्पन्न हुआ। हमारे वंश का नाम एक समय के लोकप्रिय, प्रभावशाली, शक्तिशाली और बुद्धिमान राजा राक्षस के नाम पर पड़ा वे विद्याधर वंश के ही थे, पर उनकी प्रसिद्धि ने हमारे वंश को राक्षस नाम दे दिया। इतिहास गवाह रहा है कि जिस परिवार के सदस्य का समाज, राष्ट्र पर अधिक प्रभाव होता है, उसका वंश उसी के नाम से जाना जाता है। ऐसा ही कुछ हमारे साथ था। यही नहीं, मेरे पूर्वज जिस द्वीप पर राज्य करते थे, उसका नाम भी राक्षस द्वीप था। यह द्वीप मेरे पूर्वज राजा मेघवान को राक्षसों के इंद्र भीम और सुभीम ने उपहार में दिया था। यह द्वीप सात सौ योजन लंबा और इतना ही चौड़ा था। लंका भी इसी द्वीप का हिस्सा है। इसलिए राक्षस द्वीप पर रहने के कारण ही हमारा वंश राक्षस वंश कहलाया। वास्तव में मेरा वंश धार्मिक और सत्विक होने के साथ परोकार करने वाला रहा है। मेरे पिता रत्नश्रवा और मां कैकसी धार्मिक प्रवृत्ति की थीं।

मैं खुद ईश्वर भक्त था। मेरी मां ने एक स्वप्न देखा था कि हाथियों के एक बडे़ झुण्ड को विध्वस्त करता हुआ एक सिंह आकाश तल से उतकर मां के मुखद्वार से उनके उदर में प्रवेश कर गया। मेरे पिता ने ही मां को स्वप्न का फल बताया था कि तुम एक शक्तिशाली जगत का हित करने वाले, साहसी योद्धा को जन्म दोगी। एक बार बचपन में रत्नों के हार को उठाया जिसे मेरे वंश में किसी ने भी नहीं उठाया था। उसमें मेरे नौ अन्य चेहरे भी दिखाई दिए थे, तब मेरे पिता ने कहा था कि इसका दूसरा नाम दशानन होगा। अब आप ही बताओ, जिस कुल के राजाओं ने मोक्ष और स्वर्ग में स्थान पाया हो, जहां जन्मा एक जीव आने वाले समय में तीर्थंकर बन धर्म की स्थापना करने वाला हो, वह कुल कलंकित कैसे हो सकता है।

Let us begin with my birth. A person should be identified by his persona but instead is known by the family, lineage or dynasty. My lineage is called Rakshasa – a demon dynasty, generally known as the race of sinners and evildoers. But this is not true. My ancestors were not sinners but noble souls.

In the beginning, there were only four vanshas-Ikshwaku , Rishi ,Vidyadhar and HariVansha. Overtime, under the influence of many developments and personalities, new vanshasevolved from old ones.Wetraceour origin to the Vidhyadharvansha. The Rakshasavanshais named after a popular, influential and wise kingRakshasa, who belonged to the Vidhyadharvansha. Traditionally vanshashave been named after members of family who have had great influence on society and nation, and this has been the case with us. Our ancestors ruled over an island called RakshasaDweep (island). This was gifted to my ancestor King Meghwan by our Indras (gods) Bheem and Subheem. It was 700 Yojanas (5544 miles)in length and breadth. Lanka is a part of this island. Our Rakshasavansha was named after the island.Our people have been religious, pious and charitable.

My father Ratnashrava and mother Kaikesi were religious people. I was also devoted to God. My mother dreamt that a lion descended from the sky, destroyed a large herd of elephants and entered her abdomen through the mouth. My father interpreted the dream to mother that she would give birth to a powerful, brave and benevolent warrior. In my childhood I once picked upa necklace which no one else in my family had done before, and my nine other faces were reflected in that. My father then proclaimed that my other name would be Dashanana (of ten heads). The question then is, how can a family line where kings have attained Moksha (liberation) and place in Swarga (Heaven),and whose member will establish Dharma by becoming Tirthankar, be described as dishonoured?
